Some Things Just Take Time To Simmer.

There are times when you need to make something extra memorable and special. You know those times. Your daughter and son in law just announced they are having a baby. Your son comes home after boot camp. A sister survives breast cancer. Retirements, anniversaries, and the list goes on.

Sure it would be great to have a quick casserole that takes less than 30 minutes from the time you put it in the oven to when you can place it on the table. Some things take time. In fact I think that TIME, just like Thyme, is a very valuable ingredient.

This is one of those recipes. The kind that leave garlic smell on your fingers and an aroma that the people can inhale before you even open the door.

This is a recipe that will be part of someones memory for a long time. So get out the pot, and get ready for something amazing to happen when this famous chef shared her recipe with us, and we in turn, share it with those we love.

Bon Apetite!

This is what Anne Burrell has to say about this savory recipe.

Years ago, I was working at a tiny restaurant in Tuscany. This is where I first learned to make ragù—an unbelievably delicious sauce that I would let cook for hours and hours.

Quick Tip:  If you have some zucchini to add in the last 15 minutes of cooking feel free!

This No-Bake Dessert Will Blow Your Mind

What is it about about combining Peanut Butter and Chocolate? I mean it is a match made in Heaven!

I don’t think you can be too old to love peanut butter. For me, the crunchier the better! I love dipping apple slices in it, spreading it on a banana, or even eating it off the spoon. If I am really feeling in the Peanut Butter Cup mood I will scoop some up and add a few chocolate chips on top. Probably not the most dignified snack, but in a pinch it just takes me back to  Summer Camp when I would walk to the store and buy a Reece’s Peanut Butter Cup.

Well, guess what! Imagine being able to create those flavors without making a mess or needing to turn on your oven. Imagine picking up a small square and savoring the creamy silk ofr chocolate, the full peanut butter flavor and to top it all off. having the bottom layer consist of another childhood favorite, Oreo cookies!

This is what Julia of Savory Tooth has to say about her recipe.

I don’t make desserts often, but when I do, there’s a good chance that I’m making these no-bake Oreo peanut butter bars. They have been a favorite of Mr. Savory Tooth’s ever since I first started making them a few years ago, and it’s not hard to see why he’s constantly requesting them.

Quick Tip: This is SO amazing that you might just want to make a double batch.

This is a dish where creativity collides with simple! I love this recipe and think your family will too!

I grew up eating corned beef and cabbage. To be honest, it was not my favorite. Okay, it was probably the least favorite thing off the long list of dinners my mom made.

My mom was so creative in the kitchen and could whip up anything at a moments notice, but the cabbage thing? Well, let’s just say you could smell it boiling before you opened the door and it was not something you wanted to put in your mouth.

The crazy thing is that I LOVE Reuben sandwiches and love the flavor of cabbage and sausage, just not boiled. This totally saves the day and I can’t wait to make this for my mom the next time she comes out to visit.

Since there are so many flavors of sausage you can try them all and still feel like you are changing things up a bit!

I might even add some caraway seed in there just to give it that Reuben Sandwich flavor I love.

This is what Amy of Belly full has to say about this recipe.

Kielbasa and Cabbage Skillet – This fast one-pan skillet dish is filling, full of flavor, and so easy for any weeknight dinner!

Whether you are watching football games or playing card games this snack totally packs a lot of flavor in each bite!

Getting tired of chips and dip? Try This flavorful snack and you might just hope the game goes into overtime!

These easy to make fun finger foods are exactly the kind of thing that our daughter and her friends would go crazy for at their yearly camp-out..which happened to be in a tent set up in the yard!

Having fun food makes getting together that much more memorable. I love that making caramel corn is a family tradition. I remember when my mom made it when our friends came over, but finding new recipes to start new traditions is also a fun idea.

While I might not want to have the kids help with the deep frying part, they can totally give me a hand with the assembly and rolling part, which actually adds to the fun! So go ahead, break out or make you favorite marinara sauce and let’s get this party rolling..seriously.. I mean let’s roll up some of these.

I do have to warn you. They are going to get eaten up so quickly that you might want to consider making a double batch!

This is what Meggan of Culinary Hill has to say about this fun finger food.

This trifecta of tastiness is as easy as wrapping up a cheese stick with some pepperoni in an egg roll and deep-frying it. You could bake the Pizza Sticks too, but why would you want to do that? Better to heat up a vat of oil. If that seems like a lot of work, trust me: It’s worth it.

Quick Tip: Buy some small disposable cups from a restaurant supply to put sauce in. Perfect for lunches where dipping is needed!

Worried about what to fix for dinner? Problem Solved.

One Pan meals are becoming a standard at our house. I always remember my mom making several dishes to put on the table. Anything cooked in a pan was put in a serving dish before being set on the table. It was just the way things were. We didn’t use cloth napkins but my mom did teach me how to set a nice table, complete with a center piece.

It was nice to sit down as a family, but afterwards there was always the task of dish duty. I was usually the one who was in charge of hand washing.

In fact all these years later I feel like I am still in charge of hand washing the pots and pans so whenever I come across a meal I can make in just one pot, or skillet I am totally on it.

Dinner doesn’t have to be a big production, but having dinner together should definitely be a priority. Meals that are a snap to fix, are a lifesaver. Make this for your family and I think they will agree that this is one of their favorites.

This is what Christina of Eat Well 101 has to say about this incredible recipe.

One pan chicken and Potatoes with Garlic Parmesan Cream Sauce makes for a nourishing dish perfect for a weeknight. Chicken thighs and potatoes are pan-seared, then finished in a delicious creamy sauce that perfectly combines all the flavors of garlic, tomato, spinach, spices and cheese. It’s truly an entire meal in a single skillet!

Quick Tip: For a leaner version of this dish make it with boneless skinless thighs or chicken breast.

Seriously, no one will even remember what the main dish is after they take a bite of this Ahh-mazing potato dish.

My family loves it when I make creamy homemade mashed potatoes, but sometimes that is just a lot of work and it usually leaves a bigger mess than I would like to tackle when everyone is over.
Peeling the potatoes, boiling, mashing them, then trying to get them on the table while they are still steaming hot is not an easy task.

Finding recipes that I can make the day ahead and just pop in the oven is a huge win for me! I mean with my large family we tend to really go through the food for family gatherings so having something so tasty and filling as a side is awesome. Having something that is budget friendly is even better! In fact this recipe is something that has become a standard on our table for any holiday or reunion.

I remember the time I made a rice pilaf instead and I will tell you that was a huge mistake. The first thing my kids asked were, “Where are the potatoes? ” I told them I thought I would try something new. Total fail. So the next time to make up for it I baked a huge pan of this and added in a few extra strips of bacon. They were so thrilled they could have skipped dessert and just had this as we played cards after dinner was over.

And because I could make it ahead, I was able to spend more time visiting and less time in the kitchen.

This is what Amanda from Domestically Creative has to say about her awesome recipe.

As much as I love any type of mashed potatoes, this loaded mashed potato casserole really takes the cake. It’s so packed full of buttery, cheesy, bacon-y goodness that no one can turn this dish down.

Quick Tip: Not sure you want to make such a large pan? Go ahead and use 2, 8X8 pans, or 3 loaf sized pans.

Want to look like a baking rock star? Pour a glass of milk because these babies are going to be eaten as soon as they get out of the oven!

When I saw this recipe I thought Naji was just kidding. I mean how many cookie recipes require only three ingredients? Even boxed cake mixes need, eggs, oil, water, and the mix! But she was totally serious!

I am the kind of mom who has always had the cookies in the cookie jar. If it is empty for more that two days, my family begins to grumble and wonder if I am staging a protest.

Even our kids friends look at the glass cookie jar on our counter when they walk into the house, not to see if it is full, but to see what kind of cookies are in it.

Usually I need to have a few hours to get the huge batch baked and cleaned up.

But, every once in a while it is nice to just make something different. When I know my teen’s football team had a tough loss, or my husband had a hard day at work, what a better way to welcome them home than with a plate of freshly baked and still warm cookies?

Because this recipe is so easy and is a small batch, it doesn’t require a lot of time, or make a big mess. It is just a baker’s dozen way to say..”I Think You Are One Great Cookie!”

This is what Naji says about her recipe after she switched an ingredient in the classic recipe.

But use brown sugar instead… and wow! The difference is astonishing. The cookie is soft and chewy and it has more flavor too, that slight caramel-y flavor that brown sugar has.

Quick Tip: You can use chunky or creamy, whichever you have on hand!

Need a Quick Meal? Make this And Everyone Will Beg For Seconds!

I know it is tempting to just grab a pizza from a quick pizza place that only makes pizza to go. Every once in a while that is fine to grab something hot. But how nutritious is it? I mean we are talking a lot of bread with minimal amount of anything else. So when you feel stuck on a weeknight, hurry home and whip this up.

I love that by the time you get the table set and everyone washed up dinner is hot and ready to put on the table. And even better is the fact that the clean-up is only one pot!

Not sure what to do about left overs? Really..that was a trick question because most likely there won’t be any! And if there are they will be great to take for lunch the next day.

Not long ago I made homemade Mac and Cheese for a family I cook for. When left overs of Mac and Cheese were taken into the office to heat up for lunch someone noticed and went home that night and made a homemade mac and cheese as well. Homemade food that is created from scratch is worth the effort. And the great part about this recipe is that chances are you already have most of these ingredients at home.

This is what Chelsea of Chelsea’s Messy Apron has to say about this one pot dinner.

This dish = cheesy perfection. Because, as you can see, there is no skimping on the cheese in this taco pasta!

Quick Tip:  Do you want to make this ever quicker? Go ahead and cook up meat ahead.

Don’t you wish all of life’s little problems could be conquered this easy?

Tater Tots..who knew they would be the miracle ingredient?

I am always a bit of a skeptic when I see a recipe that boasts that it is so easy a child could assemble it, but really, I think this one goes in that category.

There are a lot of people who can read a recipe and follow it to a tee..whatever that means..but we will say it stands to Tablespoon. Anyway, being able to follow a recipe and the list of ingredients is a great skill, but being able to adapt to what you have is so valuable.

If you don’t have sour cream? you can sub our plain Greek yogurt. Want to reduce calories? Consider replacing oil in baked breads and muffins for applesauce. Can’t find frozen hash browns? Yep, that is what she did. tater tots and to be honest I think in the pan it looks amazing to see them all lined up .

This is what Stacie of Simply Stacie has to say about this family favorite recipe.

This Mexican Tater Tot Casserole was a hit with my family! It was spicy, hearty and tasty. Comfort food for the win.

Don’t  Run Out Of the House Without Grabbing One..or Two..of These On Your Way Out The Door.

I am on the hunt for the perfect muffin! I don’t know why but I just can’t make up my mind on which recipe is better. I guess I will have to make them again so I can test them out. wink ..wink.

I am not sure when or where I acquired my little muffin pans. I have two of them and I love being able to mix up a batch of muffins, knowing that I can make a few different sizes. To be honest, I love the little size muffins. They kind of remind me of donut holes!

Plus, then the kids were younger it was a perfect sized treat, just right to hole in their little cherub fists. The last thing I want is a huge muffin the size of an orange being consumed by a toddler! Talk about mess!

Now with grands, I can’t wait to make muffins again with those little pans. Perfect size for tea-parties!

But the best part of this recipe is that you can use frozen or fresh blueberries. So basically these should be on you baking list all year around!

This is what Amy at Belly Full has to say about this yummy breakfast muffin!

These Quick and Easy One-Bowl Blueberry Muffins are light, fluffy, and loaded with blueberries. With only one bowl clean up is a breeze. Perfect for breakfast on the go!

Quick Tip: If you are using frozen blueberries, do not thaw first, just use them frozen. Dust berries with flour to prevent them sinking to bottom while baking.
