Want To Kick Back and Relax This Weekend? Fix a Crock Pot of This And Make It Happen

True Confession. I am TERRIBLE when it comes to mastering crock pot recipes. Until recently!

I have been writing enough recipes to see a trend that has inspired me to actually dust off my crock pot and used it twice this last month! That is huge for me since I am pretty sure I have only used it three times since the Olympics were held in Sydney. Yeah. That long ago. But the trend I have been seeing are the best recipes out on the internet.

Super savory dishes that have a sauce element seem to win hands down. Not just the standard onion soup mix with water, but actual enchilada, mushroom soup, or bbq sauce. I think it helps to break down the meat and infuse it with flavors verses having to dip or dredge them though sauces.

And the meat is so tender you can cut it with a fork.

This Hawaiian Barbeque is perfect for a luau, or just chillin at home with a great book.

Just because you are home doesn’t mean you need to spend all your time in the kitchen, it is time for ho`ohau`oli  which means to have fun in the Hawaiian language.

This is what Nicole of The Salty Marshmallow has to say about this super simple kick back recipe!

“I like putting a new, really easy, slow cooker recipe out on Friday. It makes me feel like I’m helping y’all out with your dinner plans for next week.Taking some of the foot work out of it for you? Hopefully!”

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: If \would like to add some diced bell pepper and onion the last 30 minutes of cooking that would be totally fine.

WOW..could this dish get any better? Probably not, Sheer perfection.

There have been times I have been totally swamped and too busy to cook. We have just ordered take out from Panda Express, but seriously when I have had a day that requires “take -out” what I would really love better is to stay home, put my pajamas on just relax.

This recipe is so easy that I could make this fresh and the best part, I know that I can make enough for left overs.

I had no idea that ramen noodles didn’t come in a small shrink wrapped cube where the noodles get slimy when hot water is added. But NOT true. These noodles are easy to find in the refrigerator section of a grocery store near egg wrappers. Just follow the directions and you are on your way to a great meal!

Plus, knowing that high sodium isn’t in my take out food is a huge plus for me.

This is what Chungah of Damn Delicious says about this super yummy dish.

Everyone’s favorite beef and broccoli turned into the easiest stir fry noodles EVER! It’s even better as leftovers!

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: Feel free to add in some carrot slivers and zucchini slices to beef up vegetables.

Straight from the Menu, This Mandarin-Style Dish Is Good To the Very Last Morsel.

I love being able to eat out once in a while, but when you try something off a menu that is so amazing you can’t stop thinking about it..well that is a clue that you should probably either go out more often of get the recipe.

This recipe is perfect to make for those weeks when you are hoping for left overs. I think this recipe is even better the second day. So really, why not make big batch and break out your chopsticks for this tantalizing dish that you can make right in your own kitchen.

There have been several times when I have had a full Chinese/mandarin meal. It was great to have the kids help me with all of the side dishes but it was a lot of work. This recipe is more than stirring a few items together , but something that is totally doable and will be worth every bite.

Now if only making egg rolls was this easy!

This is what Sabrina of Dinner Then Dessert has to say about this savory supper.

Cheesecake Factory’s Spicy Cashew Chicken is straight from the restaurant’s menu, this is a really spicy Mandarin-Style chicken dish with scallions and roasted cashews. It is crispy while being coated in this amazing sauce thanks to the light texture of the tempura style batter and the rice flour.

Quick Tip: Want to swap out the chicken for pork? Go ahead!

Every House Needs a Good Foundation to Be Built On. Consider This The Foundation of Your Best Pasta Recipes.

This is the first year in a long long time we have not had a small space garden. My husband is the green thumb in our family and with all the family things going on, we just didn’t get one planted in time.

It didn’t seem like a big deal. I was busy as well so not having to remember to water and look for pesky weeds was kind of a relief. BUT, now I am really missing the bounty of tomatoes he used to bring in by the basket full.

I made countless tomato salads and salsa, but after seeing this recipe, I wish I could cook up a huge crock pot and can it for later! How tasty would that be! Fresh from the garden tomato taste in the middle of winter.

Well, even if you don’t have a garden you can head to a local farmers market and pick up a huge sack for this basic sauce. I love that this is a meatless version for all my vegetarian friend, but for us omnivores, I add in cooked Italian sausage! WOWZA!

The Pasta sauce is the base for so many recipes and you can buy a jar of it, but I really like making my own. It is tastier, more budget friendly , and you know exactly what you have put in it.

For moms who make their own babyfood or toddler food , this is great because you can adjust the spices and know your little one is eating something that is healthy for them.

What my kids have to say about this recipe.

Can you make this for my birthday dinner!

Quick Tip: Meat Lover? Go ahead and add in whatever sausage of beef you choose..or chicken sausage works as well.

Dinner, Appetizer, Lunch? WOW talk about multi functional!

I use to buy a big bag of meatballs from Costco when all out kids were home. They weren’t the best tasting, not sure it is was the flavor or the texture, but they were food that could be fixed in a hurry. That was what counted then since we had 6 kids at home.

I used to use the meatballs in spaghetti sauce, sub sandwiches, and for a quick snack dipped in BBQ sauce.

But they weren’t the best tasting thing so after we had several kids move out and our family size change, I began to buy more and more things in smaller quantity.

This meatball recipe might just be what I was looking for! Since I am not a huge ground turkey fan I will replace it for ground chicken. If you are a beef purist, go ahead and use ground beef. Hey..it is your dinner! Do what works best for you!

If you have some reluctant or picky eaters, feel free to go light on some of the sriacha sauce. Trust me ..we lived in the Midwest for 9 years. Pretty sure their idea of hot sauce was un-refrigerated ketchup!

This is what Kelly at Eat Yourself Skinny has to say about this winner of a recipe.

Not only is this sauce ridiculously easy to make, but as I said before, how can you go wrong with flavors like Sriracha, soy sauce, ginger, honey, and garlic?! The answer is you can’t. Most store-bought sauces come saturated in preservatives and other ingredients that you can’t really pronounce which is why I am all about making my own.

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR LIST OF INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip:  Since these are so yummy and easy to put together why not make up at least a double batch of meatballs, freeze them on a cookie sheet after baking and then put in freezer bag. Take out as needed.

Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry that is Fresh and EASY.

The only thing missing is the chopsticks and fortune cookie, but seriously, you can get those at the grocery store. The best part about this recipe is that it tastes just as good the following day heated up for lunch.

Our kids loved it when I served broccoli beef or orange cashew chicken and had a set of chopsticks next to their fork.

It was entertaining to see them carefully pick up their food and get it to their mouths before dropping it in front of themselves. I have to admit they also ate much slower.

Even if they ended up using their fork, they still had fun trying.

If you don’t happen to have fresh broccoli you can always use frozen, but fresh is a bit tastier. I have also added thin strips of carrots just to add some color and texture.

Plus, if you have picky eaters, being able to give them a second vegetable choice is a good decision.

This is what Chris has to say about this recipe.

I clipped this recipe from Taste of Home magazine several years ago and have found it to be the best-tasting easy beef and broccoli stir-fry.  I like that it doesn’t call for any unusual ingredients.

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: You can also use chicken in place of beef, and toss in some cashews.

Finally, I found a recipe that tastes just Mom used to make! Amazing!

I thought they were kidding when I read that a 2 cup serving of this beefy pasta was only 8 Weight Watchers points! The taste is something that will knock your socks off!

I cook for a family besides my own. I am their part time “Household Manager”. One day I took over some recipe books and I went over some of the meal planning.

One of the recipes that was requested was for goulash.

My mom used to make goulash, but I don’t think she followed a recipe. it was pretty much a little bit of everything with marinara sauce on top. I loved it as a kid.

But I knew I needed a real recipe that I could actually repeat over and over.

When I came across this one I was surprised. It has soy sauce in it to give it a little kick. And the fact that is fairly low in calories..wow, I am so happy since I am trying to watch my weight.

The family loved it as well and it is one of their favorites, I hope you family will love it as well.

This is what Emily Bites has to say about this recipe.

I definitely recommend making this recipe as written so don’t omit the soy sauce, paprika or seasoned salt – they’re necessary for the flavor! Some people add bell peppers or cheese, and you can definitely add other veggies or mix-ins. I am usually of the mindset that anything can be improved by cheese, but I honestly found this dish doesn’t even need it.

Quick Tip: I love to swap out the ground beef for italian sausage, but that is totally up to you!

Can you guess the secret ingredient for this simple sauce?

If you guessed orange marmalade, you are right!

I used to think that marmalade was for putting on lightly toasted English Muffins, but boy was I wrong!

The fact that I love making orange marmalade from scratch and canning it make me even happier, especially since I have a pantry shelf full of this citrus jam.

While looking up recipes for one of our favorite Take-Out places I also can across a huge hack on how to have crispy chicken without frying. If you are watching your calories, this is a huge plus.

This is what Michelle of Crafty Morning had to say about this easy and pleasy chicken recipe.

My most recent favorite restaurant for orange chicken is Panda Express (YUM!) I have tried a few copycat recipes that used orange juice and I just hated them.I think even adding some pepper flakes for some heat would make it better!

GO TO NEXT PAGE FOR THE INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: Here is the NON-fry option!   toss the chicken pieces in about 2 Tbsp of cornstarch then bake on a parchment lined tray for 12-15 minutes at 375°

If You Love PF Changs, You Will Go Wild Over These Lettuce Wraps –

Now that the days are getting warmer I am ready to unroll the hammock, make some sun tea, and add some fresh recipes to my summer menu repertoire.

This recipe is a delicious and eye-catching fare. The lettuce is a perfect bowl for the well-seasoned chicken. Technically this is an appetizer, but it is so good that you might want to have a few and call it a meal!

When you have a big family, eating out can be a huge expense. We rarely went out to eat unless it was someone’s birthday or we were just coming home from a football game.

I had heard about PF Changs before but I have yet to go. All I know is that when people talk about this restaurant they smile and let out a sigh, The food is that good.

When I saw this recipe I realized I don’t actually have to go to PF Changs. It can come to me!

So guess what I have on our menu this week? I don’t think you need a fortune cookie to figure that out!

This is what Alison of Home and Plate has to say about her clever creation.

It was a recent visit to PF Chang’s for a family dinner that my teenage son decided to try this famous appetizer for the first time. We had two orders on the table and it was love at first bite. Literally!

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR THE INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: If you want a small kick of spice in your meat, try replacing chicken with a 1/4 pound spicy sausage.

This Recipe Is Sooooooo Popular That It’s Been Pinned On Pinterest 640,000 Times!

Most of your modern day Japanese dishes come from the Edo era between the years of 1603 and 1867. At least the most well known ones.

During the Edo Era there were a lot of changes taking place in Japan. With urbanization beginning to take place it introduced changes in farming methods and, new ingredients began being imported into Japan.

One of the most famous of all modern day Japanese dishes are the Teriyaki dishes. You can purchase Teriyaki bowls in almost every food court in every mall across the country.

Most historians would probably agree that Teriyaki was introduced into Japanese cuisine around the seventeenth century. Most likely because many of the traditional methods of roasting and grilling meat were introduced at right about that same time.

During the 1960’s in the United States is when Teriyaki first became popular in North America. This is when Japanese restaurants began popping up all over the country.

There are literally hundreds of variations of Teriyaki Sauce today. Chefs have tried virtually every different combination of ingredients possible in order to come up with the best Teriyaki sauce.

I personally have tried a gazillion of them but this is probably the best one I have ever found.

Quick Tip- This could also be done in a slow cooker. The skillet is just the faster version.
