This is a dish where creativity collides with simple! I love this recipe and think your family will too!

I grew up eating corned beef and cabbage. To be honest, it was not my favorite. Okay, it was probably the least favorite thing off the long list of dinners my mom made.

My mom was so creative in the kitchen and could whip up anything at a moments notice, but the cabbage thing? Well, let’s just say you could smell it boiling before you opened the door and it was not something you wanted to put in your mouth.

The crazy thing is that I LOVE Reuben sandwiches and love the flavor of cabbage and sausage, just not boiled. This totally saves the day and I can’t wait to make this for my mom the next time she comes out to visit.

Since there are so many flavors of sausage you can try them all and still feel like you are changing things up a bit!

I might even add some caraway seed in there just to give it that Reuben Sandwich flavor I love.

This is what Amy of Belly full has to say about this recipe.

Kielbasa and Cabbage Skillet – This fast one-pan skillet dish is filling, full of flavor, and so easy for any weeknight dinner!

Quick Tip: On the run? Wrap this up in a tortilla and you are good to go!

A Recipe So Amazing You Will Wonder Where It Has Been All Your Life.

I absolutely LOVE the Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond. She has the best recipes for families on the go and understands the value of spending time sitting down with those you love and eating something homemade together.

But life on the farm, or life anywhere else can be pretty hectic.  Ree has a whole lot of great 16 minute meals that are super quick and easy to get on the table. I am sure they are as popular with her family as they are with mine.

My favorite ingredient in this fresh ginger. I remember using only ground ginger but when I used fresh ginger for the first time I realized I will never go back. The flavor was out of this world. It isn;t super hot but the minced ginger adds so much flavor that you just can’t get enough of this dish.

This is what Ree has to say about her dish.

Here’s how I make Cashew Chicken! I could eat it weekly for the rest of my life and never get tired of it.

Quick Tip. Get your rice steamer going as soon as you start cooking and everything will be hot and ready at the same time.

Have you ever made tamales from scratch? This is SO Much easier!

A few years ago my daughter and I decided to learn how to make tamales. When I saw that a local eaterie was having a class I decided to sign up us. In fact, I decided to sign up my mom as well. I made us all matching aprons and we took the class together. It was a total blast and the best part was that we were able to take the tamales we made

I made us all matching aprons and we took the class together. It was a total blast and the best part was that we were able to take the tamales we made home. We made chicken and beef and even though it has been several years ago I still remember the amazing taste.

The other thing I learned after taking the class is that tamale making is hard work! It is very time consuming and I can see why groups of people make them together and create huge bunches.
Even though this isn’t quite the same thing, I love that the flavors remind me of what we created during class. I also love that this can be made in one pan. Actually a skillet, which has perfect for going from the oven straight to the table.

And you know what that means? The less pans there are the less mess it makes. Serious;y this is going to be one of our new go to meals. It might have to cook for 50 minutes but only takes 10 mi minutes to prepare.

This is what Jo at Jo Cooks has to say about her recipe.

This Beef Tamale Casserole will certainly make your dinner time easy. We’re talking comfort food to the max, layers of cornbread, enchilada sauce, spiced ground beef, loaded with cheese then baked to perfection!

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: Not a beef fan? Go ahead and swap out for chicken and green enchilada sauce instead of red.

This recipe is like the best of the best fair food all in once place..yours!

There is a whole lot going on with the flavors in this recipe. Who can resist the flavor and textures of a corn dog. Have you ever had a craving for some of the good old fashioned fair food?

I grew up involved in 4-H so we were at the fair every summer, showing our sheep. Plus we had other things in the fair but the thing I really loved was the food. So much to choose from.

I could never decide which food was my ultimate favorite. Now that I think about it I am pretty sure it was the freshly dipped corn dogs that the Lions Club used to make at their booth.

While it has been a while since I have been to a county fair, you can make these little nuggets right at home. Now that is a prize winning idea!

Nicole of The Salty Marshmallow had this to say about her classic recipe.

Does it get any more classic than a hot dog loaded up with warm chili and melty cheese? I think not. Pretty sure my kids could live off of the things.

Quick tip:  Feel free to add minced onions or jalapeno peppers before serving!

Who has time to make something for a potluck? This recipe solves your problem.

Here is the thing, we used to attend a small church in the town we lived in for several years. the first Sunday of every month was potluck Sunday. Sounds great right? Wrong! I hated potluck Sunday.

It was a miracle to get everyone up and out the door. Let alone try to get something made to take. One Sunday I was so frustrated decided to skip potluck Sunday altogether!

It just wasn’t worth the stress, hassle, or mess.

There were plenty of Sundays I just opened a huge can of peaches, put them in a glass bowl and sprinkled a little cinnamon on top.

The bowl was always emptied, but I wished I had a better handle on what I could bring.

This recipe is something I could have totally prepared the night before so all I would have had to do it take it with me and put it in the oven. Live and learn!

This is what the gals in the kitchen have to say about this recipe.

I have never seen anything this amazing since Mabel brought her famous Noodle DoDa Spam Hotdish!

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: Go ahead and add whatever breakfast meat in this dish you want. I am a bit partial to peppered bacon, but a good sausage would also be great.

The aroma of this simmering just says..come on in and grab a bowl!

I love the taste of a good stroganoff. Truth be told, I grew up with it being made with ground beef and my adult children make it that way as well. But my stroganoff is also made with a cream of mushroom soup. It is a thick gravy like topping to rice or noodles.

While I love the flavor, it can be on the heavy side. My problem is that it is so stinkin’ good that I tend to eat more than I should!

When I saw this recipe I knew I had to try it. All the flavor without all the calories. So much lighter and better for you. On the crisp evening when you just crave something to warm you from the inside out, this just might be your go to recipe.

Sometimes just the smell of this can bring everyone into the kitchen asking when dinner is ready.
When our son in the Army was coming home on leave, guess what he requested for his first dinner home. You got it soldier! I love that our kids have their favorite food that remind them of home. This one is at the top of the list.

When our son came home from overseas he was so happy when I fixed this. I asked if it was as good as he had been dreaming about and he replied it was better.
That is when you know you need to pass the recipe down so they can someday make it for you.

This is what Amy from Belly Full had to say about this family favorite.

Classic beef stroganoff is transformed into a hearty, yet light soup. And no need to cook the noodles first, because it’s all made in one pot. Easy weeknight dinner!

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS

Quick Tip: Several of our kids do not like mushrooms so I saute then and put them on the side for my husband and I to add later. It isn’t that I am catering to them.. I just don’t want my mushrooms to be undervalued!

Having A Ladle Of This Made Me Feel Loved and Cared For.

I had been in Northern California for over a month with our three youngest kids. Our son was given an intern at the small airport where his Civil Air Patrol met and it just worked out for me to pack up the kids and go for the whole summer.

At the end of summer we returned from the small cabin we had rented in the Sierra Mountains back to Southern California. Ii was over eight hours of driving in our very crowded Camry. To simply state that we were tired would be like saying the Olsen Twins are thin.

After we got over the Grapevine we were going to stop at my brother’s home. He was expecting us.

I was looking forward to seeing him and I think all four of us were anxious to get out of the car. But, I totally did not expect to be wrapped in the aroma of what he had simmering on the stove when I walked in the door.

I felt so loved and comforted from my head to my flip-flip wearing toes. “What is that?” I asked hi after a hug.
“Meat and Peas,” He responded. It still needs another hour and then it will be ready.”

So worth waiting for.

This is what Katerina of Diethood has to say about this amazing recipe.

Even though this recipe is ridiculously easy, and each one of you probably has their own version of it, it’s all the random flavors that totally make it. Beef, peas, tomatoes, onions… the combination is SO GOOD!

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: I actually cook several strips of bacon in the ditch oven until crisp. Remove to paper towel and use drippings to braise the meat in. Right before serving I crumble the bacon and add to top.

Make this for a weekend dinner and guess what? Your family will beg you to make it again..maybe tomorrow!

Hey, I just got back from my daughter and son-in-law’s home. I call him my bonus boy because I love him just like one of my own! They are expecting their second baby any day now.

Since I live on the other end of the state from them and I might not get to be there as soon as the baby is born I decided to fly up and spend a few days getting meals planned, prepped and in the freezer so my daughter can take it easy until the baby gets here. Well, they do have a two year old so I guess I should say “Take it as easy as possible with a toddler under foot.”

We did quite a bit of food prep and one of the things we did was purchase a rotisserie chicken to make a casserole with. It was awesome to not have to cook that extra ingredient and it was perfect fr what we needed.

I just wish I had this recipe when I went there. I love that you can prep this, put it in a pan, freeze it and bake it weeks after you made it. Now that is a helpful meal right there. Looking in the freezer and realizing you have a few of these kings of meals in your freezer would be like looking in the dryer only to discover that someone left a five dollar bill in their pocket. Actually I like to consider that my tip:~D

So let me give you a tip my cooking friend. Don’t spend so much time making each meal when you can cook extra and freeze half for later, it is such a huge time and money saver and seriously, think about not having to wash all the pans every single night. Woot Woot!

This is what Gina of Kleinworth & Co has to say about this easy dish.

What tops your list when you think of comfort food? For me, casserole & soup. I was craving both the other day & couldn’t decide which to make. So I decided to combine the two & create this AMAZING Chicken Noodle Casserole.I love how quick & easy this dinner is & how much my family loves it.

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR LIST OF INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick tip: If you are making this to take to someone’s house, consider making it in an foil pan so you don’t have to worry about bringing your dish home.

When you know you are not going to have time to cook! Dump it in and let it do it’s thing!

My mom use to put things in the crock pot and I have a ton of friends who swear that their lives would not be the same without crock -put recipes, but I just didn’t get it. UNTIL NOW.

Seriously, I just made pulled pork for sandwiches the first time a few years ago.

My biggest question was , “Why didn’t I do this years ago?”

I think I was used to things tasting dry or really greasy, but this recipe caused me to turn over a new leaf. I LOVE this so much because I can make this when all our kids come over and just set out a bag of chips, some homemade fruit cocktail and hoagie rolls.

Yessir! We are ready to eat!m And I am voting we use paper plates!

This is what Lauren of Lauren Gruetman has to say about this hungry crowd pleasing recipe.

Push a button and then walk away. And let me tell you, just because it’s easy doesn’t mean it ain’t delicious! In fact, with this crockpot pulled pork recipe, just the opposite. A small amount of effort will be rewarded with some AMAZING BBQ.

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: Need to make this ahead of time? Go ahead and put it in quart sized freezer bags. Then just take out what you need when you need it. For camping, this is the bomb!!

Nothing screams WELCOME HOME like Southern Style Comfort Food. Come and Get It!

When I saw that Becky mentioned being obsessed with this recipe I though she was kidding, but after making it for dinner I can see the serious attraction.

This meal has EVERYTHING. Chicken, vegetables and it is all wrapped up in a flaky crust. Pretty much sums up the perfect kind of a comfort food. Just the kind your family will love coming home to after a day at school or work.

In fact this is the kind of recipe that they might even ask for when they come home to visit.

I know I am trying to pull together recipes for our older kids as part of my Christmas gift to each of them..and this recipe is going in the Pie Baking Basket.  Ssshh..it is a surprise!

I know it is a bit too early to be thinking that far in advance, but when you come across a great idea and have amazing recipes to make it spectacular you might as well jump in right? Besides..comfort food? Yeah, I think the whole world could use a bit of that every now and then.

The other great thing about a recipe like this is that you can really cater to your families preferences. Like it a bit on the spicy side? Add in some diced fire roasted hatch chilies! Like it mild, that totally works as well.

And the left overs? if you have any ..will be even better the second day which is hard to imagine since you will be tempted to lick the plate with this easy to pull together recipe.

This is what Becky of The Cookie Rookie has to say about this Southern Classic Comfort food.

This crazy good CHICKEN POT PIE CASSEROLE is the ultimate easy comfort food! Homey, delicious, fun, and SO COMFORTING. Don’t you want to just dive in?!

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR THE INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: Don’t have time to make the pie crust from scratch? You can always buy the pre-made crust in the freezer section of the grocery store and when you have time to make this..you have it on hand..in fact, why not go ahead and buy a few to keep in hand..you never know when you might just want to whip this up!
