Some Things Just Take Time To Simmer.

There are times when you need to make something extra memorable and special. You know those times. Your daughter and son in law just announced they are having a baby. Your son comes home after boot camp. A sister survives breast cancer. Retirements, anniversaries, and the list goes on.

Sure it would be great to have a quick casserole that takes less than 30 minutes from the time you put it in the oven to when you can place it on the table. Some things take time. In fact I think that TIME, just like Thyme, is a very valuable ingredient.

This is one of those recipes. The kind that leave garlic smell on your fingers and an aroma that the people can inhale before you even open the door.

This is a recipe that will be part of someones memory for a long time. So get out the pot, and get ready for something amazing to happen when this famous chef shared her recipe with us, and we in turn, share it with those we love.

Bon Apetite!

This is what Anne Burrell has to say about this savory recipe.

Years ago, I was working at a tiny restaurant in Tuscany. This is where I first learned to make ragù—an unbelievably delicious sauce that I would let cook for hours and hours.

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip:  If you have some zucchini to add in the last 15 minutes of cooking feel free!

This No-Bake Dessert Will Blow Your Mind

What is it about about combining Peanut Butter and Chocolate? I mean it is a match made in Heaven!

I don’t think you can be too old to love peanut butter. For me, the crunchier the better! I love dipping apple slices in it, spreading it on a banana, or even eating it off the spoon. If I am really feeling in the Peanut Butter Cup mood I will scoop some up and add a few chocolate chips on top. Probably not the most dignified snack, but in a pinch it just takes me back to  Summer Camp when I would walk to the store and buy a Reece’s Peanut Butter Cup.

Well, guess what! Imagine being able to create those flavors without making a mess or needing to turn on your oven. Imagine picking up a small square and savoring the creamy silk ofr chocolate, the full peanut butter flavor and to top it all off. having the bottom layer consist of another childhood favorite, Oreo cookies!

This is what Julia of Savory Tooth has to say about her recipe.

I don’t make desserts often, but when I do, there’s a good chance that I’m making these no-bake Oreo peanut butter bars. They have been a favorite of Mr. Savory Tooth’s ever since I first started making them a few years ago, and it’s not hard to see why he’s constantly requesting them.

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: This is SO amazing that you might just want to make a double batch.

If I Had A Nickel For Every-time Someone Asked Me For This Recipe…

There are so many awesome casseroles and one skillet meals out there, but sometimes you really want to eat a nice tender piece of chicken.

This baked chicken is better than a fried version because it is less calories and a lot let mess. Plus, the taste is so memorable that you might be asked to make it every week.

The first time I had something similar to this was when I was staying over at my grandma and Grandpa’s house. I watched my grandma Doris pound out the chicken into thin strips, coat them, and then dredge them through crushed cornflakes. This recipe takes it up a notch as far as flavor. I am sure if she had thought of French fried onions she would have loved that!

Because of the oil, the chicken remains super tender when it is baked. Think of a homemade chicken tender only better!

I have to admit, I love making this chicken so much that I will often make up a double batch so I can cut up the chicken later and put on a tossed green salad for lunch.

I also love that every time I make this family favorite I think of my creative and beautiful Grandmother who taught me how to make this. Now all I need is a side of her potato casserole and this meal is ready!

This is what Valerie of Valerie’s Kitchen has to say about this recipe.

“A super family-friendly meal idea!”

Can you really think about eating a nice juicy burger without fries on the side?  Not me!

One of our favorite places to grab a quick bite is In and Out Burger. Our son works there now so we have plenty of reasons to swing in. Ordering a number 3, grilled onions with peppers, protein style hits the spot every single time. I love that everything is fresh and hot. Just like when I make food at home.

Even if I don’t order fries when we stop at our favorite fast food burger place  I still find myself sneaking a few off my husband’s tray. Usually he just goes ahead and order extra fries because he knows that I can not eat just one ..or two..of three.

I have made baked fries a few times and it never seemed as good as I hoped, but this recipe is totally different. This recipe addresses why baked fries tend to get a bit soggy. And really, who wants a soggy fry?

Here is what Emily of Layers of Happiness has to say about this recipe.

Crispy edges, soft centers; extra-crispy French fries baked not fried – so you can feel good about eating them!

Quick Tip: Try adding some finely snipped fresh rosemary to french fry seasoning for a gourmet experience.

When we moved from Californian to Minnesota on of the first things I noticed, besides that your nose hairs freeze at about 15 degrees below zero, it that the culture of food is different from California cuisine.

We learned that Uff-da is a real word that people use in a sentence. Lefsa is a Scandinavian tortilla. And getting a one finger wave on the country roads of Ottertail County is TOTALLY different then getting a one finger wave down the crowded California Freeways.

I loved living in the Midwest. I loved seeing Fireflys and the smell of rain after a summer thunder storm.

The tree-lined streets are wide and when someone invited you over for coffee they really meant it.

When I went to the grocery store to buy fresh basil for pesto the grocer looked at me and asked where I was from, obviously not from those parts.

There were also tons of variations of hot dishes, which confused me a bit since I always called them casseroles.

Barbeques were not pieces of meat grilled over a flame. They were sloppy joes on a seeded bun.

One of the things I noticed was how much Jell-O was consumed. At a potluck it was not uncommon to see the full rainbow of flavors on the salad table. Jell-0 is NOT a salad, unless you live in the Midwest!

Here is one of the salads that I saw a lot of during our 9 years in Fergus Falls, MN. And it was always one of the first dishes emptied.

Here is what our kids said after the potluck.

Is there anymore of that fluffy stuff with the fruit in it?

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: Don’t have orange Jell-O? Use any flavor you want!

When you think about it, the ingredients of this Frozen Yogurt are actually good for you!~ The Greek yogurt and strawberries are perfect together and with only a few more ingredients, a blender, and room in the freezer, and you are set for cooling off!
I was thinking that this might also be good to make into small individual cups or better yet, popsicle containers.

I love that this recipe uses strawberries, but to be honest when I was looking up fast and easy summer recipes, the ones that really kept [popping out were the ones that didn’t require an Ice Cream Freezer.

You only need a blender for this one. I can’t believe I didn;t try this sooner. Plus,

I can’t believe I didn;t try this sooner. Plus, ice cream doesn’t always set too well with me. It is too heavy and rich. Using yogurt is a game changer for me.

I know there are a lot of people who make their own Greek yogurt, but I am totally OK to just buy it from the store, After all, a mom can only do so much!
This is what Tiffany of You’ll Feel Great in 8 has to say about this family favorite.

You could say this relationship of pecan and chocolate is “complicated”.

I was looking for a few new cookie recipes since I have baked the same chocolate chip cookie recipe for the last several batches.

When I went to the Hersey’s cite I stumbled on this tantalizing treasure. It is the perfect blend of a pecan pie and a chocolate pie. You will want to savor each morsel of this decadent dessert.

This might not be something you would serve everyday, but it would definitely be something that would be a big hit with your family and friends.

Because it is so rich , you don’t need to cut the pieces very big. A small dollop of whipped cream on top might just bring this dessert to the perfection level.

Really, how can really resist the taste of chocolate and nuts?

My grandpa Upton used to say there were only two kinds of pie he liked.

“Hot or Cold!”

He isn’t here anymore, but I think he would have agreed that this pie is a real gem.

See, know that wasn’t to complicated!

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR THE INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick tip: I just started making pies. If you are going to make very many you should know to cover the outside edges of the crust with aluminum foil OR get on the the silicone rings that you can actually bake right on the pie crust and it will keep the crust edges from getting too brown.

Skip the Sandwich Shop. Make This ahead of Time and Rock your Lunch Break.

The first time I heard about quinoa I had NO idea what they were talking about.

My son was telling me about some of his recipes and I kept asking..is it a grain? What is it?

So I looked it up and this was the definition.

Pronounced “keen-wah,” this protein-packed grain contains every amino acid, and is particularly rich in lysine, which promotes healthy tissue growth throughout the body. Quinoa is also a good source of iron, magnesium, vitamin E, potassium, and fiber.

So basically it is a nutrient rich seed that is categorized as a protein.

I have started making a few things with it and replacing rice and it kind of reminds me of brown rice, only a bit nuttier.

Of course, it doesn’t have that high starch factor that you get from white rice. You know..the way you mash your fork on your plate and the rice sticks to it like something out of a Play-doh fin factory, but it is good for you. So if you haven’t tried Quinoa. Go ahead and try this recipe. Either way, I think we will be eating more of that super food in the future!

So if you haven’t tried Quinoa. Go ahead and try this recipe. Either way, I think we will be eating more of that super food in the future!

I love that Richa has this recipe designed to be divided into four bowls. What a time saver to have lunch or dinner ready to go.

If all you have to do is pop this in the microwave and re-heat then you can spend more time doing something you enjoy then trying to order something off the “to-go” menu!

This is what Richa says about her grab and go recipe!

Chicken Fajita Meal Prep Lunch Bowls are teamed with cilantro lime quinoa and is a healthy, tasty, fast recipe to make lunch prep for weekdays super easy!

Quick Tip: Make sure you rinse the quinoa thoroughly to get rid of a slightly bitter taste after cooking. Not a big deal and some quinoa doesn’t even have it. But seriously it is a small thing to do. Much easier than dealing with kale!

This is two of our Family Favorite Recipes Rolled into One Pan of Yummy Goodness!

I had never thought to use tortellini as an ingredient  in what is almost like a lasagna. This recipe totally rocks!

Being able to bite into that cheesy pasta is almost too good to be true. It is savory and because it really is loaded with lots of flavor and a hearty meal, it really feeds a crowd.

Toss together a salad and slice up a french bread and there you go! In fact, this is the kind of main dish you can make ahead a d just pop in the oven 45 minutes before you want to serve it up! With a big crowd of kids, it is nice to know I can have a main dish that everyone will love.

So if I want to have a small bowl for lunch the next day I know to dish it out and HIDE it before everyone eats it all!

This is what Jen at Carlsbad Craving has to say about this recipe!

This isn’t just any Tortellini Bake. Its not just a cheese tortellini bake, or a vegetable tortellini bake, or a marinara tortellini bake but an ooey gooey, Cheesy Bolognese Tortellini Bake – which means it has it all!

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: If you are super short on time..which would be a shame to miss out on this sauce..go ahead and use your favorite sauce out of a jar.  Really, it is OK.
