This Might Just Be The Best New Recipe You Try All Fall

Let’s just be totally honest here. I love American food just as much as anyone else such as hamburgers and French fries, Mac and Cheese, where the cheese just connects your fork to the plate it is so stringy and gooey, and pizza. So when I saw a recipe where all these flavors were mixed together in one skillet I was a bit skeptical. I mean is this like a “Clean out the fridge and see if anyone notices.”  Kind of a recipe?  The answer to that is NO! This literally where you cook everything using only one pan, wave your magic wooden spoon, and smell the magic happen!

I should have known this would be amazing when I saw it had bacon in it. Now the biggest hurdle is to see if my family loves it.

The apples and Brussel sprouts are perfect cooked this way, which is a huge deal for me. I am not the biggest Brussel sprout fan, but my family just could not get enough of this once I put it one the table. In fact, they already asked me to put it on the menu again and want me to make a double batch so we have enough for lunch left-overs.
This is what Erin of Well Plated has to say about this healthy dish.

“With sweet potatoes, apples, Brussels sprouts and bacon, this healthy Paleo chicken skillet is packed with flavor and delivers every food group in one pan!”

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: This meal stays good for three days in fridge but when reheating you may want to add a bit more chicken broth to keep from drying out.

A Cross Between Your Favorite Recipes Make This Single Serving A Huge Saving

Isn’t it nice to find a few creative ways to make our lives easier? I know I can use all the help I can get when it comes to making my days run a little smoother.  One thing I did was to de-clutter my entry closet. Wow! Why in the word would I need so much stuff in a place that should only hold a few items. In fact, I even found a packet of sample dog food in there. What is the problem with that? We don’t even have a dog!

My goal is to eventually go through each nook and cranny and get rid of things I don’t need so I can make more room in my life for the things that are the most important to me.

Being able to keep my meals planned and rotated are a huge help as well. If I can have several meals that are super easy, delicious, and a breeze for clean-up, I know that will have a huge impact on how things are run.

I have made meatloaf for years! But making them in muffin tins are a whole new experience. I can already see how this will freeze well so I can just take out what we need. Perfect!

This is what Food Network has to say about this recipe.

“These meatloaf muffins — a cross between a meatball and a mini meatloaf — are easy to freeze in individual portions. Make a double batch now and freeze half for dinner next week.”

Quick Tip: Instead if plain dry breadcrumbs try Italian Breadcrumbs. Serving suggestions: mashed potatoes and a green salad

Do Not Try To Make These Without Learning The Secret Ingredient In This Recipe.

I don’t know about you but if I could pick a food that I have learned to love as an adult I would have to say it would be sweet potatoes.  There is a little bit of a difference between sweet potatoes and tams. I actually thought they were the same thing but they are different plants. I think the sweet potato is a little sweeter and it also has more of a consistency of Yukon gold as far as fibrous texture goes.

As far back as I can remember my mom used to make a sweet potato dish by starting with canned yams. You know the ones. They show up on the end caps at grocery stores around Thanksgiving. Usually there is also tall stack of mini marshmallows right next to them along with brown sugar. Yep, that is the casserole I am talking about and while Thanksgiving might not feel complete without it, kind of like the multi layer Jello Salad recipe that has been around for ages, sometimes a little change is a good thing.

Using fresh ingredients is such a game changer. When I first made recipes that called for sweet potatoes and began cooking with them I had no idea how delicious they really were. When I found out they were good for you, well let’s just say a happy dance might have happened right in my kitchen!

This is what Karina of Café Delights has to say about this yummy recipe.

“Also, I always make these with breadcrumbs. The times I’ve tried these with flour, they come out gooey in the centre. Very, very soft and almost like a cake batter.”

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip; Try making these in a non-stick pan since they are a little fragile when turning.

When I Made This My Husband Was Afraid He Forgot Our Anniversary

My husband isn’t a huge romantic, but when I make a big bowl of this I am totally speaking his love language! I know that no matter what his day at work was like, as soon as he takes a big bite of this, all his troubles just melt away.

What is it about the classic potato salad that people love? For me it is the taste, texture, and the fact that my mom made this every time we went camping with our grandparents and all our cousins. For my husband I think he just loves the fact that it is made from scratch.

The simplicity of this hearty dish just brings back great memories of summer time and the fact that is literally goes with anything you can put on a grill makes this a super functional side dish is a huge bonus. I always have to make a huge batch because my husband eats this up for snack if there is any left in the fridge. Plus, one of the main ingredients is potatoes, making this as budget friendly as it is tasty!

I know that Russets are the standard and cheapest spud on the market, but our family loves the Yukon gold potatoes. I buy the big bag at Costco because I know they will all get eaten one way or another.

This is what Valerie of Valerie’s Kitchen has to say about this yummy side dish.

This Old Fashioned Potato Salad recipe is my version of the classic American potluck dish. Tender potatoes with a creamy, perfectly seasoned dressing. This fail-proof recipe is one of my old favorites!

Quick Tip: If you are not a fan of sweet pickles, go ahead and swap out relish for dill relish. Seriously. I had no idea that existed until recently when I accidentally picked up a jar!

What happened to summer! I mean we should still be buying stuff for S’mores not stuff for backpacks.

I remember that school didn’t start until after the Jerry Lewis telethon.

Raise your hand it you remember that? Thank you. I see those hands wildly waving in the back.
Now, the school where our kiddo attends is starting in the middle of August! Goodbye summer days, hello weeknight routines!

Part of that routine is having a good meal plan. I need to know what we are having way before the kids ask that dreaded question..”What’s For Dinner?”

The other thing I don’t love during the busy nights of school activities is a huge dinner mess. Planning ahead helps with that as well. This One Pot dinner is one of those bare bones recipes that you can add to. Kind of like a blank canvas!

So go ahead. Plan to make this, but then add in the things your family loves such as olives, hot sausage, corn, you name it.

Help make dinner time a time to reconnect. A time to celebrate the little things, and a time to reflect on what is truly important in our lives.

Here is what Milisa has to say about this pasta dish.

This one pot pasta is easy to customize with your favorites. You could sub in ground beef or chicken for the Italian sausage and mushrooms, peppers, onions or spinach would be great additions.

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR THE INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: Keep the ingredients handy for this super easy supper. Show your kids how to make it. If you are not home, they can feed themselves. Doing their own laundry so their new t-shirts aren’t pink..well that is a whole other ball of wax my friend. Best of luck on that!

Fix it and Forget it! Now That Is The Ultimate Convenience

It takes a lot of juggling to keep up with everyone’s busy schedules. As a mom of six kids, I remember hectic days when it felt like we lived in the car!  And I know I am not the only one who wonders how she can be so busy and yet never feel like she never gets enough accomplished. Is that you?

I see you out there..nodding your head “Yes!”

While life can feel like a merry-go-round on warp speed, there are things that come up that we don’t want to miss. Life is too short not to live it the fullest.

The last thing you want to do after a long day is worry about what you are fixing for dinner. Time to pull out the crock pot! You can put this chicken in before you leave the house, so all you have to do is steam some rice and veggie and dinner is served!

Come One In and Pull Up A Plate!

There is nothing like having a big family and including extra people over to share a meal. There is laughter, several lively conversations, and lots of food. Sometimes my kids would have friends over, and when I started cooking dinner I noticed they would ask if there was anything they could do to help, which was an unspoken code for “That smells so amazing is it possible to stay for dinner?”

My mom had taught me from a young age that there was always room around the dining room table for one or two more. The big question is what can I make that everyone will like and will feed the masses without the huge messes! The key? Have a few great stand-by recipes just like this crowd-pleasing favorite.

Really, how can you go wrong with pasta?

This is also a perfect recipe to make when you are taking a meal to someone who needs a bit of help. It is easy to take over uncooked with instructions to pop into the oven.

You had me at Tater Tots!

Seriously, this casserole is as American as hot dogs and apple pie. Tater Tots, cheese, bacon and sour cream, what more could you want in a dish?

When we lived in the Midwest, this would have been a huge hit in the potluck line! Tater Tots are considered one of the major food essentials. Potlucks were usually loaded with either Jello-O salads or hot dishes that included a layer of these spud morsels.

The only place in town to get Mexican food was at Taco Johns, where they had Tater Tot Oles on the menu. Which is basically tater tots wrapped up in a tortilla with some taco seasoning and maybe catsup. While I think I might pass on that tater tot creation, this one looks too good to not give it a try.

Quick Tip: This Bacon Cheeseburger Tater Tot Casserole can be made ahead of time and refrigerated or frozen for later. You can also divide it between two 8×8-inch pans.

If I Had A Nickle For Every time I Shared This Casserole Recipe…

I love big family get-togethers! Whether it is a holiday, reunion, or just a time when we can all gather round the dining table there is nothing as hearty and nostalgic as a big pan of creamy scalloped potatoes. I usually have to make extra because we love them as left-overs!

The fact that you can make a huge dish is a relief because this is one our kids’ favorite way to fix potatoes and when you can buy a big bag of spuds fairly cheap, this also is budget friendly.

While scalloped potato dishes are not super fancy, there are a few basics that can set them apart from being boring to brilliantly prepared even for those just getting started in the kitchen.

The secret is in details.

This classic side dish that has been a standard next to honey glazed hams for as long as I can remember. Adding garlic and several varieties of cheese make this a perfect side dish for any occasion.

USE THE RED NEXT PAGE LINK BELOW FOR THE RECIPE AND INGREDIENTS.

Quick Tip: Since this is a dish that takes a while to bake, make sure to put this in the oven in plenty of time. Let is set for 5-10 minutes before serving.
