These Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls Put Mom’s Diner on the Map

Just the color of these fall cinnamon rolls makes me happy! Everywhere you turn there are pumpkin inspired foods, snacks, and recipe. There is no way I could ever make all the things I want to make, but I will try! I thought at one point during my fall baking I would begin to get tired of pumpkin but I have found the opposite to be true. The more new recipes I try, the more I am in love with the amazing and multifunctional gourd!

I used to think that pumpkins were just for carving or decorating, but now when I go shopping all I can imagine is how many cups of fresh puree can I make. It reminds me of the cartoon when one of the hungry characters sees his friend and all of a sudden they look like a piece of food.
Yeah..that is me looking at a pumpkin. I see the round orange vegetable but what I really am imagining is pumpkin scones, pancakes, or cinnamon rolls.

This is what Christy of The Girl Who Ate Everything had to say about the recipe her friend Ami shared with her.

These Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls With Caramel Frosting are soft and tender pumpkin spiced cinnamon rolls with a sweet caramel icing.

Quick tip: Have a Kitchen Aid? Use the beater for the wet ingredients and switch to the bread dough hook when adding in the flour.

Ohh Baby, You Are On a Roll. This Pumpkin Dessert Is Addictive

Ohh my goodness! Fall is here and the thought of sipping on hot apple cider with a dash of fresh nutmeg, watching football, and enjoying the cooler weather makes me want to jump into a pile of freshly raked leaves! But the really awesome thing worth FALLing for is this amazing recipe. I have to admit, I had never tried making a roll before.

Sure, I would oh and awe over magazines with pictures of pumpkin rolls, but the thought of actually making one seemed like so much work and something that might only be successful in a “test kitchen”.

I actually read the directions three times just to make sure I understood what I needed to do. The “Roll up in a powdered sugar tea towel kind of stumped me at first. When I rolled up the cake with the filling and it came out perfect I realized the wisdom in letting it cool like that.

Later when I watched a baking show I noticed that several of the contestants just rolled up the cake with the filling after it cooled. Unfortunately, the cake cracked. This method helps you achieve bakery perfection with your very first attempt.

This is what Marci says about this dessert recipe.

-This year I took the challenge. My only thought after finishing up the project was “What took me so long to try it!”

Quick Tip: You can buy canned pumpkin puree or get a little crazy and make your own from fresh baking pumpkins.

What Happens When A Starbuck Pumpkin Spice Latte Collides With Bread Pudding?

I hadn’t really planned to make a pumpkin bread pudding, but sometimes when you are trying something new and using the ingredients on hand you just stumble across something absolutely mind boggling. That is what happened with this recipe. I had just made some pumpkin muffins the week before and had a half of a large can of pumpkin puree left in the fridge. I also had a loaf of bread that was starting to get a little stale so instead of just chucking it, I made some bread pudding. Pumpkin bread pudding!

It was such a huge hit my family asked me to make it again. This time we had company over and they wanted to know if I would be willing to share the recipe. Yikes! I didn’t even know exactly what the recipe was so I made it again and this time wrote everything down.

Basically, if you have what you need for a pumpkin pie plus some bread you have what you need for this comfort food. And trust me, I have even used day old French baguettes and they worked just fine. Which I think is one of the beautiful aspects about bread pudding. It is simple and resourceful.

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: I love making individual desserts when company comes over. You can divide this into small ramekins or even small wide mouthed canning jars.  For smaller jars you might want to put filled jars or ramekins on a tray and add in ½ inch water to keep from drying out.

Starbucks Inspired Recipe Just Stole The Show

A hard day?  Tired and frustrated? Maybe you are in the middle of a project that has just taken a turn for the worse. Well you are in luck my friend. Because if this recipe doesn’t cheer you up, you might need to check for a pulse. The smell of Banana Bread baking in the oven seems to help troubles just a little more manageable. One small bite at a time.

Put it this way, do you think Starbucks would waste space in their bakery cupboard for something that wasn’t a huge hit with their customers? The answer is NO. Some of their baked goods are standard such as blueberry scones, filled croissants and banana bread. You know what I think appeals to people? It is naturally sweetened by fruit and everyone knows someone who baked this. Whether it is a mom. A grandma, or a favorite next door neighbor, the aroma of freshly baked banana bread just says, come in, share your soul, and stay for a slice.

Because Starbucks knows that this goes with a great cup of coffee, this copy-cat recipe is extra moist, but don’t take my word for it. Bake a loaf and see for yourself. Or better yet, bake two loaves and share with someone who could use a bit of a lift.

This is what Charlene of My Frugal Adventures has to say about her favorite quick bread.

“This one is simple to make, packed with banana and is delicious plain, with nuts or add some chocolate chips for a real treat. This recipe is actually from Starbucks directly so hopefully you like it as much as we do!”

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: You can add chocolate chips instead of walnuts, or better yet, add both.

Don’t  Run Out Of the House Without Grabbing One..or Two..of These On Your Way Out The Door.

I am on the hunt for the perfect muffin! I don’t know why but I just can’t make up my mind on which recipe is better. I guess I will have to make them again so I can test them out. wink ..wink.

I am not sure when or where I acquired my little muffin pans. I have two of them and I love being able to mix up a batch of muffins, knowing that I can make a few different sizes. To be honest, I love the little size muffins. They kind of remind me of donut holes!

Plus, then the kids were younger it was a perfect sized treat, just right to hole in their little cherub fists. The last thing I want is a huge muffin the size of an orange being consumed by a toddler! Talk about mess!

Now with grands, I can’t wait to make muffins again with those little pans. Perfect size for tea-parties!

But the best part of this recipe is that you can use frozen or fresh blueberries. So basically these should be on you baking list all year around!

This is what Amy at Belly Full has to say about this yummy breakfast muffin!

These Quick and Easy One-Bowl Blueberry Muffins are light, fluffy, and loaded with blueberries. With only one bowl clean up is a breeze. Perfect for breakfast on the go!

Quick Tip: If you are using frozen blueberries, do not thaw first, just use them frozen. Dust berries with flour to prevent them sinking to bottom while baking.

One taste of this and you won’t be able to stop thinking about these.

I have made a lot of cookies in my lifetime, but bars are a whole other thing. I mean it is almost a cross between a cookie and cake so I figure why not just make one or the other, but these bars hold their own when it comes to flavor.

These are the kind of things that I remember being on plates at our 4-H meetings, or church potlucks. They are so yummy that even though you eat them with your fingers you wished you had thought to put them on a plate and use a fork.

But hey, you can lick your fingers all you want, no judgment here.

Speaking of Old Fashioned. Does anyone remember the “Dime A Dips” fundraisers? They used to have a huge potluck at the end of every month for our big 4-H club. Every scoop of food you put on your plate or piece of dessert cost a dime..get it? So really it didn’t cost that much to fill up, but then again we were the ones who brought the food.

The biggest thing was that you always watched to see if your dish was worth scooping up or taking a serving. This recipe is so amazing, not only were the bars gone, but I am almost certain someone licked the plate clean!

So grab a cake mix and an apron and mix it up a little. You will be glad you did and so will everyone else.

This is what Nicki of Che-In-training has to say about her recipe.

Yes, this is the same grandma that supplies a lot of the yummy recipes on this blog from her incredible cookbook she made and compiled of recipes she has had since she was first married.I could not stop eating them!

Quick Tip: Perfect for a tea party. Serve on a plate with a few berries.

This Banana Cake definitely has it’s A-PEEL :~D

I love the smell of banana bread being baked. In fact I usually bake up several batches at once since it take a while to bake and really, who wants to heat up the oven for just one loaf?

Whenever it was a cool morning, instead of turning on the stove, I would often just bake something instead. I guess you could say our home was literally warmed by fresh cookies and breads!

The taste of banana is such a classic for our family. We buy a lot of bananas. I know they get eaten quickly at a meal or even dipped in peanut butter for a quick snack.

My problem is that I rarely have bananas around long enough to get speckled so when we do I either bake something right away, or peel them and put into the freezer for smoothies of breads.

What about you? Did you grow up eating bananas? If so this will be a nostalgic taste of childhood.

This is what Jaclyn of Cooking Classy has to say about this amazing recipe.

When I see that I have overripe bananas I can’t help but get excited because it always gives me an excuse to make some kind of banana bread or dessert.

Quick Tip: You can also make these into cupcakes for easy serving. Not having to have a fork or plate? How simple is that!

This old fashioned pie is the epitome of resourcefulness and taste!

My grandparents moved to Salinas during the dust storms. It was a hard life. they had to work together and share what they had with others just for survival.

Having fruit and luxuries from the store just wasn’t always an option so the women had to be super resourceful and creative.

The one thing that many did have was milk, and buttermilk. So if they needed to make a pie for a Sunday dinner, or a church potluck, they could still use what they had.

It was simple, yet the perfect dessert with a strong cup of coffee. And the best part was, it was homemade.

Practicing the art of hospitality wasn’t something that had to be Pinterest perfect, it just had to be genuine.

Just like this pie. The real deal from the first bite, I think you will agree that this pie is a true treasure.

Comments by Kate Matthews of Shreport, Louisiana, a recipe contributor to Taste of Home Magazine:

“This recipe is older than I am and I was born in 1919! My mother and grandmother made this pie with buttermilk and eggs from our farm and set it on the tables at church meetings and social gatherings.”

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR  A LIST OF INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTION.

Quick Tip: serve this with a side of your favorite fruit if it is in season such as cut up peaches or strawberries. It is perfect the way it is, but should you happen to have some fruit? That might just put this pie into the Hall of Fame!

Why didn’t I start making these earlier? Say goodbye to your cookies sheets!

I have a reputation with our kids’ friends. They know that at anytime, if they stop in, there will always be cookies in my cookie jar.

In fact, sometimes I get special requests for baked goodies from the friends my kids eat lunch with.

They know that whatever is packed for lunch or snack break, it will be worth trading for.

Come to think of it, my cookies are pretty much the Gold Standard around the cafeteria :~D

Years after my older son graduated when he sees his friends they will tell him to say “Hi” to me, and let him know how much they miss my cookies!

Baking cookies is a bit of a commitment. Of course it probably didn’t help that I usually made three to four batches at once. What didn’t fit in the cookie jar I put into zip lock bags and saved in the freezer.

Every 12 minutes the timer went off. Cookies were put onto a cooling rack and more scooped onto the hot pans, ready to be popped back in the oven. Another 12 minutes.

I think it is time to stream line my baking operation. These bars look amazing and I LOVE the fact that they have the salted top. Plus, the triangles look so cute that I think the kids , and their friends, won’t mind the difference!

I know being able to bake all these at once, I won’t mind not standing in the kitchen for an hour..or two!

So apron up! There are cookies to bake and lunches to pack.

This is what Kelly of Just a Taste has to say about this cookie recipe.

These tasty triangles are an updated take on my go-to recipe for Secret Ingredient Chocolate Chip Cookies. The chocolate chip cookie bars also contain the secret ingredient, plus a touch more flour for a slightly sturdier cake-line consistency. So if you’re going for the ooey-gooey end result, all you have to do is underbake these bad boys and you’ll be golden.

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: I love to mix my chips! Try half white chocolate chip and half semi-sweet, or add in butterscotch chips. What the heck..go for a triple combo!

No fuss, but all the flavor! What an awesome recipe!

The Official National Cheesecake day is actually July 30! So bummed because while I did think ahead in order to be able to celebrate National Lasagna Day, I don’t think I am going to be able to pull off the Cheesecake in time.

Oh well! I guess I will have to just announce that Anyday is cheese cake day!

My mother-in-law has a recipe for a cheesecake that is pretty darned involved. I watched my husband make it once and thought, I can buy one for less than he spent on the ingredients!

At the end of all the stirring and prep time, he took out a bottle of ale or beer and put in a healthy dose. My oldest boys went crazy for it. Me..not so much.

It was heavy and overpowering. One bite and you could feel your arteries begin to harden. It did pretty well in the pie auction, but my vote actually went to a berry concoction.

Seeing that this recipe has lemon in it and the fact that it is a no bake dessert makes me want to start singing!

This is what Ashley of Recipe Rebel has to say about this scrumptious nor fuss dessert!

This No Bake Lemon Cheesecake is possibly my favorite cheesecake ever. It is light and fluffy and creamy and just sweet enough to balance out all that tang from real lemon juice and zest. It is perfection, especially when you load it up with real whipped cream and fresh summer berries.

Quick tip: If you have fresh fruit go ahead and slice some up. This would be amazing with mango or fresh assortment of berries.
