Need a quick Snack for your next party or movie night?

We used to play Canasta every time we visited my Great Grandma Upton. She always had snacks on the table. I am not sure if she wanted to really treat us, or if she just wanted to distract us from keeping track of what had already been played…unless you were her partner! Serious fun right there around her small dining room.

She would have loved this treat! This one’s for you Big Grandma!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Squares.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups good quality semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  • 8 ounces mini pretzel twists ,half of a regular 16-ounce bag
  • 1 4 oz box Reese’s Pieces candy

Peanut Butter Sauce:

    • 1/2 cup honey
    • 1/3 cup sugar
    • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:

Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

Melt 1 cup chocolate chips gently in the microwave (on low heat, stirring every 15 seconds) until smooth.

Spread the chocolate evenly over the parchment.

Immediately add the pretzel twists and Reese’s Pieces over the top (it’s ok if they overlap a little) and gently press them into the chocolate.

For the peanut butter sauce:

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat add honey and sugar and stir well to combine.
  2. Bring to a boil and boil for 1 full minute, stirring.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter until smooth.
  4. Stir in vanilla.
  5. Drizzle the peanut butter sauce over the top of the pretzels and candy.
  6. Melt remaining 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and drizzle on top.
  7. Refrigerate until hardened.
  8. Cut into pieces. Store in the fridge.

Quick tip. If you would rather put on M&Ms feel free! I would say that this will stay fresh in an airtight container for a week, but I seriously doubt it will be around that long!
