Nothing Beats Old Fashioned Biscuits and Gravy! Hand Down the BEST!
I love trying different sausages in recipes. I think the hot Italian Sausage is our favorite in this recipe since it adds a bit of heat to this otherwise mild flavor. Not a huge fan of pork? Well you are in luck because there are a lot of really great chicken sausages on the market as well.
COUNTRY SAUSAGE GRAVY
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 pound sage pork breakfast sausage ( or whatever kind you prefer)
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups milk
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a large skillet over medium high heat, cook the sausage until brown and crumbly.
- If excess oil, drain while keeping a solid tablespoon of the sausage oil in the pan.
- Add the butter and stir well until melted.
- Sprinkle sausage with flour, stir, and allow to cook for several minutes.
- Add the milk and stir.
- Continue stirring occasionally over medium heat until gravy thickens, 5-10 minutes.
- Yes, it really is that easy!
Quick Tip: Make scrambled eggs and set out a bowl of fruit and you are set for a great breakfast of brunch.
