This Recipe Is As Easy as 1-2-3!

Teaching kids to cook is so important on so many levels. It helps build a real sense of self-confidence, teaches them basic skills such as measuring and also grocery shopping. And if they are in college is also encourages them to start thinking about budgeting.

I know that some parents think they are protecting their kids by not making them do anything for themselves, but really? If they are old enough to drive, they are old enough to boil a pan of water.

CREAM CHEESE GARLIC ALFREDO

Serves: 8

INGREDIENTS:

  • 16 oz. pasta of your choosing
  • ½ cup butter {I use salted}
  • 1 {8 oz.} pkg cream cheese
  • 2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 8 oz. freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. ground black pepper

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Strain, rinse under cold water, and set aside.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Once melted, add the cream cheese and garlic powder and stir with a wire whisk until smooth.
  4. Add the cream, a little bit at a time, while whisking. Add the chicken stock and stir well, smoothing out any lumps.
  5. Stir in Parmesan, salt, and pepper and bring to a boil, while stirring.
  6. Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer for 3-5 minutes, until desired consistency.
  7. Toss Alfredo sauce with pasta and serve warm.

Quick Tip: Make this in small ramekins instead of a big pan. Serve with some chicken nuggets and a piece of fruit and you have an awesome meal!
