I used to think that anything Red Velvet was a bunch of hype.

I mean how much flavor does red food coloring add? The answer? ZERO!

But the real secret it that it isn’t the red color that makes these stand out, it it the subtle flavor of cocoa against a buttery backdrop. Seriously I think my timer just went off..or it very well could be an angel getting it’s wings.

I found I don’t enjoy consuming so much red color just because it is..well you know. RED.

This recipe calls for enough color to make these brownies jump off the page with color. Woot Woot! But if being a bit more subdued is in order, feel free to cut the red coloring in half and call the cake something else.

Pink Champagne cake! Of course there isn’t any champagne in the cake, but then again there wasn’t any edible velvet in the first one either :~D

Because these are supposed to be more of a brownie, feel free to leave off the frosting if you don’t have time. Just lightly dust the top with powdered sugar.
I love the fact that these are finger foods. How many times have I brought regular brownies, or Rice Krispy Treat to events, only to set my tray down next to a dozen that are almost identical?

These delicate morsels are a twist on an old favorite so don’t be surprised if the tray disappears.

Here is what Haley of The Domestic Rebel has to say about her brownies.

These are so soft, chewy and moist and flavored with all that red velvet goodness. They have just a touch of cocoa powder to give it that oomph without it being a full-on chocolate brownie. And of course, the red color is GORGEOUS!

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR LIST OF INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: Cut into small squares and place on plate, add a scoop of ice cream on top, whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate. YUM!

Make this for National Hot Fudge Sundae DAY!   Show Off!

My kids loved to celebrate the silly National days such as National Parfait Day and National Talk Like a Pirate Day.

I usually just make Home Made Hot Fudge for the National Day, that falls on July 25, but this year I found this recipe that I think takes the whole Hot Fudge lovin’ to a new level.

As much as I think we are going to all go nuts over this I am thinking that I might need to make this on more than just the one day.

Go ahead, and bend the rules a bit. Celebrate the little things in life and whether or not you make this on July 25, I am sure you will have everyone talking about it for days!

this is what the family at Betty Crocker had to say about this chocolate yumminess.

A warm, delicious way to enjoy a hot fudge sundae! Go ahead and add ice cream for a homemade parlor treat.

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR THE INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: I love the taste of cinnamon in my chocolate cakes. I think it is from living in San Diego and enjoying Mexican Hot Cocoa, so feel free to shake some cinnamon in your batter.

Why yes, I would like S’MORE!

What is it about the taste of S’Mores? Is it the goey melted marshmallows and chocolate? The thought of spending time around the campfire with those you love? OR could it just be the fact that it is one of those tastes that takes you back to your childhood?

Pretty sure it is all the above.

Growing up in a family who loved to camp, my mom would have never thought to pack up the old Suburban if we didn’t have S’more Fixings.

Aaah the glow of marshmallows becoming little torches under the starlit sky!

Totally awesome that this little treat doesn’t require any fire, mosquito spray, or sleeping outside.

You can make this version of a campfire treat and serve it at your next family get together or your kids’ slumber party.

And the clean-up? Super easy breezy

This is what Chrisy of Homemade Hooplah has to say about this fun dip.

“Fluffy marshmallow and chocolate dips are swirled together to make this easy and fun chilled party dip. No heating or melting required!”

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: If you are serving this outside go ahead and put a small spoonful in the bottom of a plastic or paper cup and stick 4 graham cracker rectangles into it so it is portable.

This Molten Lava Cake is EXPLODING with flavor!

Recently my daughter in law told me about a molten lava cake she baked. It sounded so good and I wondered how she was able to keep the inside runny without allowing the cake to be raw in the center.
Before I had a chance to get the recipe from her I found this gem. Peanut Butter and Chocolate! Two classic flavors combined to make one very impressive lava dessert.

This dessert is not a make ahead type of event, but for a special occasion, this will really leave a lasting impression.

You know what..skip that last notion of waiting for a special occasion. Every day is worth celebrating in some small way so grab your apron and let’s get this volcano started!

Add a scoop of vanilla bean icecream on the side, and your guests won’t even care what you had for dinner.

This is what Cathy of Lemon Tree Dwelling has to say about this showstopping dessert.

I’ve always had a thing for chocolate + peanut butter. I mean….who hasn’t?? It’s the original salty/sweet combo….and even though we’ve invented thousands more since, nothing quite compares to the marriage of creamy peanut butter and sweet, rich chocolate. AmIright??

GO THE THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: If you have a large muffin pan..( the one that makes the size of the huge Costco muffins) Go ahead and double the recipe and use that. Four might not be enough.

Best Brownie on the PLANET! and that is putting it mildly!

My mom packed the best lunches when I was growing up. There were a lot of things she would put in our bags to make them interesting, but basically it boiled down to the basics. Such as a sandwich, chips, whatever fruit was in season, and a cookie or baked treat.

There were many times that I would open my lunch and see that she had made brownies. Yummo!

I try to have brownie mixes on hand for those last minute treat items, but after I made these and saw how simple it was I will never go back to boxed mixes again.

The best part is that you probably have these ingredients idn your pantry right now! So what are we waiting for? Let’s bake something memorable tight now!

This is what Karina of Cafe Delights has to say about this classic recipe.

The Best, Fudgy ONE BOWL Cocoa Brownies! A special addition gives these brownies a super fudgy centre without losing that crispy, crackly top!

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: OPTIONAL
Crushed walnuts, peanuts, almonds, pecans, etc. Chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips.
