This recipe is one that you don’t even have to bake! If you love the powdered mix that comes in a box mac and cheese you are going to love this. It is REAL food made with real ingredients and all you have to do is boil the noodles and mix everything in a skillet to melt. This is great for a bigger crowd as well because the recipe can be doubled and heated up in a crock-pot. Because all you are doing is getting two pans dirty, unless you put everything back in the pan you cooked the noodles in, (not a bad idea) the mess is super minimal.

 

Easiest Cheesiest Mac and Cheese On The Planet!

 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 ounce cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/2 cup grated sharp Cheddar
  • 2 slices American cheese
  • 3 cups cooked cavatappi pasta

Directions

    1. Heat the heavy cream, cream cheese and garlic salt in a medium cast-iron skillet over high heat.
    2.  As the edges start to bubble, gently whisk the cream cheese until it is evenly incorporated into the heavy cream, about 1 minute. Allow to cook for 15 seconds so the mixture thickens.
    3.  Add the Cheddar and American cheese and continue whisking.
    4.  Pour the sauce over the pasta, stir and serve immediately!

 

Quick Tip: If you want a little color and crisp on the mac and cheese, , add some breadcrumbs on top and place under the broiler for a couple of minutes. Feel free to substitute elbow macaroni if you don’t have cavatappi.
