The Easiest Tex-Mex Skillet Recipe This Side of the Rio Grande
Teaching kids how to cook so they can take care of themselves when they become adults is very important. This is a great recipe to introduce several concepts to beginning cooks. Trust me, your kids will thank you for teaching them valuable life skills when they get ready to move out on their own.
Easy Cheesy Tex-Mex Skillet
Serves: 4
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 can corn, drained
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 3 Tablespoons * taco seasoning
- 8 ounces rotini or elbow pasta
- 1 cup water
- 1 ½ cups shredded colby jack cheese
- OPTIONAL- 1/2 diced onion
Directions:
- Brown hamburger, drain.
- In the same skillet add all ingredients except cheese.
- Bring to a boil then turn the heat down to a simmer for 15 minutes and cover, stirring occasionally.
- Sprinkle with cheese.
- Cover and heat until cheese is melted.

EXTRA BONUS RECIPE
Almost Spicy Taco Seasoning
Ingredients
- 5 Tablespoons chili powder
- 1 Tablespoon sea salt
- ½ Tablespoon hot paprika
- ½ Tablespoon paprika
- 1 Tablespoon garlic powder
- 1½ Tablespoon cumin
- 3 Tablespoons onion powder
Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container.
Use 3 Tablespoons seasoning per 1 pound of meat for tacos.
