Don’t Judge A Pie By It’s Cover. This is our family’s Favorite Mash-up Of Flavors.

You Don’t Need A Chuck Wagon to Wrestle Up This Hearty Dish!

I grew up watching John Wayne westerns. The Chuck Wagon was always a big part of of the cattle drive. My daughter, a huge Louis L’Amore fan, would agree.

Sometimes the camp cook was one of my favorite characters, and no matter what was going on they were able to create beautiful flaky biscuits and something to put on the blue enamel wear tins.

The food was consumed and washed down by a shot of whisky, or coffee so strong it melted the hair off your arms.

When I was younger I always thought that a Shepard’s pie looked like a little bit of a mess. But, after trying it one time I was hooked. The mashed potatoes, vegetables, and meat were the perfect meal. The fact is was all cooked in one big casserole dish is a a huge plus.

So circle you wagons and roll up your sleeves. This is a meal that will stick to your ribs long after the doggies have all been rounded up!
