Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake? Bring on the milk!

I was shocked to find out my cookies were the Gold Standard.

I remember the day when one of our kids told me about what he ate at lunch time. He started listing off chips, candy, Oreos, and a bunch of other food that I knew I hadn’t packed in his lunch.

“How did you get those?” I asked on our drive home from school.

“I traded my cookies!” he stated, proud of his negotiating skills.

“But I made those for you to take.” I have always baked cookies and our cookie jar is always full.

Jack went on to tell me that my cookies have become so well known that they are like the Gold Standard of cafeteria trading. He knows that no matter what , when he comes home he can have a cookie, but being able to have the ability to negotiate the food exchange was a big deal, especially for an 8th grader.

It was true. My cookies had always been a big hit with our kids’ friends. When any of them would come over, they usually looked to the spot on our kitchen counter to see what kind of cookies were in the glass jar and waited to be asked if they would like one..or two.

Here is what Lynn of Fresh April Flours has to say about the amazing recipe she shared with us.
