A Six Ingredient Dessert? SHHHH, your Secret it safe with me!

The BEST Peanut Butter Scotharoos this Side of the Mississippi.

Have you ever had a kid come home and tell you they signed up to bring the treat for the next class party..in two days!

Sometimes squeezing extra baking works but sometimes it does not.

This recipe is perfect for either of those times. Easy and amazing all rolled into one!

Ingredients

For the Base:

  • 6 cups Special K Cereal*
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light Karo syrup
  • 1 1/3 cups creamy peanut butter

For the Topping:

  • 1 1/2 cups butterscotch chips
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Grease a 9×13 pan with butter and set aside.
  2. In the bottom of a large pot, heat sugar and Karo syrup over medium heat. Stir occasionally.
  3. Cook just until sugar dissolves or until it starts to barely bubble.
  4. Remove from heat, stir in the peanut butter until it melts and the mixture is smooth.
  5. Add in the cereal and fold gently until all cereal is evenly coated.
  6. Spread into the pan and gently press flat.

TOPPING

Place the butterscotch and chocolate chips together in a bowl and melt in the microwave for 30-second increments, stirring between each until smooth. Pour over the cereal and spread to the edges. Let cool completely before cutting into bars.

Quick Tip: Do not substitute Rice Krispys for the Special K.
