So Simple a 6 year Old Could Make These!

Who says you have to make everything from scratch? I am all for making sure I have great food for my family made with fresh ingredients, but I totally remember those days when just getting everyone up and in the car at the same time was a huge feat! Being able to bake a little something yummy to take to early morning soccer games or for a fun alternative to basic toast? Yeah..that is not always an option.

I love being able to have things on hand that I can make up quickly. Better yet, I love having things on hand that my kids could help me with.

Spending time together in the kitchen created some of the most memorable times for us when our kids were growing up. I guess you could say we were very food and family focused!  Being able to have a few things up my sleeve helped me save time as well as money because we weren’t swinging through someplace to grab a snack. And I really love that this recipe is a pretty low mess option! Plus, kids LOVE to eat what they help to create!

So apron up and let’s back something fabulous with those we love.

This is what Tbsp.com has to say about this recipe inspired by Buns In My Oven.

These gooey, sweet little muffins are the perfect cure to a dreary morning. They’re full of a cinnamon and caramel and topped with a simple sweet icing.

Quick Tip: you can also make this in a Bundt cake pan.

These Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls Put Mom’s Diner on the Map

Just the color of these fall cinnamon rolls makes me happy! Everywhere you turn there are pumpkin inspired foods, snacks, and recipe. There is no way I could ever make all the things I want to make, but I will try! I thought at one point during my fall baking I would begin to get tired of pumpkin but I have found the opposite to be true. The more new recipes I try, the more I am in love with the amazing and multifunctional gourd!

I used to think that pumpkins were just for carving or decorating, but now when I go shopping all I can imagine is how many cups of fresh puree can I make. It reminds me of the cartoon when one of the hungry characters sees his friend and all of a sudden they look like a piece of food.
Yeah..that is me looking at a pumpkin. I see the round orange vegetable but what I really am imagining is pumpkin scones, pancakes, or cinnamon rolls.

This is what Christy of The Girl Who Ate Everything had to say about the recipe her friend Ami shared with her.

These Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls With Caramel Frosting are soft and tender pumpkin spiced cinnamon rolls with a sweet caramel icing.

Quick tip: Have a Kitchen Aid? Use the beater for the wet ingredients and switch to the bread dough hook when adding in the flour.

Perfect Fall Dessert and So Easy To Make

I love fall time. Pulling out favorite sweaters, starting a fire in the fireplace, and eating lots of comfort foot. This classic apple dessert is among my very favorite fall recipes. It combines apples, caramel and oats. Our neighbors had an apple tree and I loved getting apples from her. One year the tree was so full of apples that she told everyone she knew if they wanted apples they should come and get them before the deer ate them up. I made sure to head over and Could not believe how the branches were just drooping under the weight of all the fruit.

Since we lived in the Sierra mountains, the apples needed to be a variety that could withstand frost. They were Arkansas Blacks, and let me tell you, those apples were so hard it was almost impossible to take a bite out of them. Not like the Pink Lady of Honey Crisp Apples. These were super hard and kind of tart, but they made the best pies and crisps. They might have taken a little extra work but we ended up gathering about 2 laundry baskets full!

This is what Lauren has to say about her Applicious dessert.

“My traditional apple crisp recipe has received rave reviews, and this Caramel Pecan Apple Crisp takes my old favorite to a whole new level! “

Quick Tip: Want to add a bit of holiday flare? Toss a handful of fresh cranberries into the apple filling.

Ohh Baby, You Are On a Roll. This Pumpkin Dessert Is Addictive

Ohh my goodness! Fall is here and the thought of sipping on hot apple cider with a dash of fresh nutmeg, watching football, and enjoying the cooler weather makes me want to jump into a pile of freshly raked leaves! But the really awesome thing worth FALLing for is this amazing recipe. I have to admit, I had never tried making a roll before.

Sure, I would oh and awe over magazines with pictures of pumpkin rolls, but the thought of actually making one seemed like so much work and something that might only be successful in a “test kitchen”.

I actually read the directions three times just to make sure I understood what I needed to do. The “Roll up in a powdered sugar tea towel kind of stumped me at first. When I rolled up the cake with the filling and it came out perfect I realized the wisdom in letting it cool like that.

Later when I watched a baking show I noticed that several of the contestants just rolled up the cake with the filling after it cooled. Unfortunately, the cake cracked. This method helps you achieve bakery perfection with your very first attempt.

This is what Marci says about this dessert recipe.

-This year I took the challenge. My only thought after finishing up the project was “What took me so long to try it!”

Quick Tip: You can buy canned pumpkin puree or get a little crazy and make your own from fresh baking pumpkins.

What Happens When A Starbuck Pumpkin Spice Latte Collides With Bread Pudding?

I hadn’t really planned to make a pumpkin bread pudding, but sometimes when you are trying something new and using the ingredients on hand you just stumble across something absolutely mind boggling. That is what happened with this recipe. I had just made some pumpkin muffins the week before and had a half of a large can of pumpkin puree left in the fridge. I also had a loaf of bread that was starting to get a little stale so instead of just chucking it, I made some bread pudding. Pumpkin bread pudding!

It was such a huge hit my family asked me to make it again. This time we had company over and they wanted to know if I would be willing to share the recipe. Yikes! I didn’t even know exactly what the recipe was so I made it again and this time wrote everything down.

Basically, if you have what you need for a pumpkin pie plus some bread you have what you need for this comfort food. And trust me, I have even used day old French baguettes and they worked just fine. Which I think is one of the beautiful aspects about bread pudding. It is simple and resourceful.

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: I love making individual desserts when company comes over. You can divide this into small ramekins or even small wide mouthed canning jars.  For smaller jars you might want to put filled jars or ramekins on a tray and add in ½ inch water to keep from drying out.

I Couldn’t Believe My Eyes When I saw My Grandmother Pull This From The Oven

I just can’t get enough of baked apples! Anything with baked apples, oats, and cinnamon just reminds me of fall. It is my favorite kind of comfort food and I never get tired of it.. EVER! I know this recipe is supposed to be for a dessert, but with all the apples, eggs, and oats it should count for a breakfast food! Because seriously when I smelled this baking in the oven the last thing I wanted to do was wait until after dinner. I was ready to just grab a fork and cut myself a big piece.

My Great Grandma Upton would have loved this recipe. She cooked a lot of her meals in a cast iron skillet that looked like it could have weighed as much as she did. It had been seasoned from years of use and she was careful to make sure to clean it up and dry it before putting it back in her oven where she kept it.

I love this recipe because it really isn’t a pie or a cake, but can be sliced up in wedges and served with a dollop of Cool-whip, whipping cream, or even a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. Go ahead and serve this right from the skillet onto the plates. That is exactly what my Great Grandmother would have done as well.

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: Make sure you get good baking apple for this dessert. I love Pink Lady and Honey Crisp, but your just can’t go wrong with Granny Smith. And I don’t peel my apples when I bake them. I use the apples skins and all!

Grab Four Favorite Sweater And Cozy Up TO This Cupcake

I grew up not far from a place called Apple Hill. I love anything made with apples and that includes apple butter. My oldest son is a huge lover of the brown spicy apple goodness. I think it was from remembering how the house smelled when I would have a huge crock-pot of peeled, sliced, and cooking apples mixed with cinnamon and nutmeg. I used to cook it for about three days. The house smelled so amazing! The taste was even more incredible.

Nathan asked if he brought me the apples me would I make apple butter. I totally agreed. At the time Nathan was working for a man with a few trees. . He told Nathan he could have as many apples as he wanted if he picked them.  Later that day I came into the house to find 4 laundry baskets of apples. Let’s just say we ate a lot of apple butter that year: ~D

This Might Just Be The Best New Recipe You Try All Fall

Let’s just be totally honest here. I love American food just as much as anyone else such as hamburgers and French fries, Mac and Cheese, where the cheese just connects your fork to the plate it is so stringy and gooey, and pizza. So when I saw a recipe where all these flavors were mixed together in one skillet I was a bit skeptical. I mean is this like a “Clean out the fridge and see if anyone notices.”  Kind of a recipe?  The answer to that is NO! This literally where you cook everything using only one pan, wave your magic wooden spoon, and smell the magic happen!

I should have known this would be amazing when I saw it had bacon in it. Now the biggest hurdle is to see if my family loves it.

The apples and Brussel sprouts are perfect cooked this way, which is a huge deal for me. I am not the biggest Brussel sprout fan, but my family just could not get enough of this once I put it one the table. In fact, they already asked me to put it on the menu again and want me to make a double batch so we have enough for lunch left-overs.
This is what Erin of Well Plated has to say about this healthy dish.

“With sweet potatoes, apples, Brussels sprouts and bacon, this healthy Paleo chicken skillet is packed with flavor and delivers every food group in one pan!”

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: This meal stays good for three days in fridge but when reheating you may want to add a bit more chicken broth to keep from drying out.

This Is the Recipe Bakers Don’t Want You to See

This last summer I went to Colorado for my grandson’s first birthday. On a summery Saturday morning my beautiful daughter-in law and I walked to the local Farmer’s Market. We picked up a lug of peaches to turn into jam, along with a few other items. One of the things we could not resist was the little mini-donut stand. I mean they were making them hot right there and had a few toppings to choose from. It was a no-brainer. We picked the bacon maple donuts that had actual crisp bacon bits and maple glaze drizzled over them. We also got a dozen cinnamon sugar sprinkled donuts. Ohh my gosh! It had been so long since I had tried a donut that I seriously forgot how addicting they are!

But the time the three of us walked home we had eaten several of them. I do want to make it clear that they wee about the size of a donut hole but still, they were amazing. I think the biggest reason I don’t do a lot of donuts is that they are fried. Which can be a problem if you are trying to count calories.

This muffin recipe is combining the fluffiness of a donut with the batter of a muffin and the results will have everyone at work wondering where you bought these from.

This is what Nichole has to say about her recipe.

“Basically, I’ll come up with any excuse, these are that good. But, don’t be fooled by the simplicity – they have this amazingly light flavor of vanilla and spices.”

GO TO THE NEXT PAGE FOR INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS.

Quick Tip: go ahead and make a maple glaze and sprinkle with bacon bits before glaze dries. All I am sayin’ is those were good treats!
