So Good You Might Want to Wear a Tiara to eat this!

Have you ever made something so yummy you felt it should be served on fine china and a fancy fork? Well, what is stopping you? Go ahead and make this delightful cake, a perfect treat to go with coffee

Go ahead and make this delightful cake, a perfect treat to go with coffee or tea. The only thing you will have to worry about once this comes out of the oven is if people would like one lump or two.

A few years ago I went to a small town White Elephant Sale that raised funds for the local volunteer fire department. The old building was packed with treasures! Old linens, tea cups, platters, books, and one year I bought an old steamer trunk.

As much fun as it was to go, I think buying a few older pieces would be a shame if I didn’t use them once in a while. I love getting out the old dessert plates and real silverware forks to serve dessert on. It makes it seem extra special. And if you have someone over for coffee, I think that is a great reason to just slow down and break out the good china.

You may even find yourself saying “quite nice” and another spot of tea sounds smashing!

I just had a little tea-party with my granddaughter. She LOVED that I served dried pineapple and goldfish crackers. It was kind of an impromptu tea so anything we put on the tiny plates was great. the next time I go to their house I will have to take my mini bundt pans and make this! She will be over the moon thrilled!

This recipe comes from Epicurious. com who had this to say about their cake.

This can also be made with white nectarines, or about six large plums or pluots. It’s great with ice cream or whipped cream.

Quick TIp: This is a great little cake to bring to an event beause it doesn’t need to be frosted. Easy transportation! and if it is warm outside you dont have to worry about the icing getting runny!

My mom used to make these butterscotch goodies that I thought were absolutely better than anything Mary See’s could come up with. For those who are familiar with Sees candy you know that is a pretty darned high standard.

For those who are familiar with Sees candy you know that is a pretty darned high standard. The black and white tiled stores are iconic in the west coast.

I loved the little treats and always assumed that My mom must have slaved over a hot stove to get all the yummy goodness into each small bite sized treat.

But when she shared her recipe I saw that is was very similar to this one. Just a hand full of ingredients.  And you don’t even need a candy thermometer!

My mom’s butterscotch treat didn’t have any chocolate on them, but I think the chocolate really dresses this up a bit.

This is what Melanie has to say about this scrumptious treat that kids will be begging for!

These babies are my go-to last minute dessert. Scotcheroos only require 6 ingredients, all of which are shelf stable so I can always have them in my pantry. They take 10 minutes to make and if you want to speed up setting the chocolate you can pop them in the fridge.

Quick Tip: Have a glass of cold milk handy..just sayin’. When your kids start taking these in their lunches, don’t be surprised if you get calls from other moms asking for the recipe!
